A boutique rural hospitality experience, the old ‘Chalé de igreja’ awakens to a new life.
Lua de Caldelas is located at the heart of the beautiful village of Caldelas, home of the Termas de Caldelas, the therapeutic springs known from the Roman days. For generations, the springs made Caldelas an ideal destination for people seeking cure and health.
The experience combines an updated interior design, wine bar that fusions the local tradition of Vinho Verde with fine dining from the Mediterranean, and an art gallery hosting local artists. In the vast garden guests can relax in one of the hot tubs overlooking the view or spend a magical evening by the fire pit, or rent mountain bikes for a day of adventure.
All the rooms are equipped with A/C, free fast wi-fi, and TV. Our Mediterranean breakfast is served daily to our guests, who can also enjoy free access to the hot tubs in our garden, where they can relax, heal and admire the view.
We believe that the charming atmosphere of the meticulously designed rooms, wine bar, and garden will be heaven for those who need a quiet moment at the end of a day, and for those who wish to enjoy a day of solitude.

We stayed at Lua de Caldelas for a magical week, two sisters together with our elderly parents, and we have no words to describe how much we enjoyed every moment. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and bright, and spotlessly clean. Every detail is meticulous and pleasant. The breakfast is excellent and surprising every morning, and the hotel restaurant offers wonderful chef meals that were a real culinary experience for us. The location of the hotel is perfect. Surrounded by green and peaceful nature, which adds to the relaxed and special atmosphere of the place. And above all - the personal and warm attitude. Keren and Ziv welcomed us with love, with real attention to every little detail. They shared with us recommendations, stories and experiences, and made sure that our stay was nothing less than perfect. Dear Keren and Ziv, thank you very much for an unforgettable experience. You have set an especially high standard for hospitality, and we are already waiting for the opportunity to return and stay with you again.
Hello travelers and those planning to visit the Paneda-Geres National Park in northern Portugal. I would like to recommend a charming family hotel in a small village on the western side of the park. The hotel is called Lua de Caldelas. It belongs to an Israeli couple, Keren and Ziv, who do everything they can to make sure travelers have a pleasant and homely stay. The spaces are beautiful, the breakfasts are great, and the dinner we had there was the best meal of our trip. Ziv guided us where to go to visit the park, and his advice made the trip for us. Highly recommended!
Aww what a beautiful boutique hotel. Everything was perfect and above expectations. Location is amazing. Host made us feel as if we were home. Breakfasts were delicious. Dinners were extra special as the food was amazing. We did not want to have dinner anywhere else and we had the host and his family join us . Thank you Ziv for the beautiful scenic route you gave us. Definitely will be back.
A fabulous stay with lovely owners who took good care of us and helped us enjoy our stay even more. The whole hotel is a work of art. The design of the rooms is immaculate, fabulous colour scheme, a pleasure to the eye. The breakfast was amazing! The best I have ever had. Healthy, fresh and tasty. The hot tubs were an added bonus. I highly recommend this hotel.
We absolutely loved our stay. The rooms are so beautiful, with such attention to detail. The decor is done with taste and I loved that art and nature are intertwined…it spoke to me as there is no distinction between the two. The hot tub was an extra treat and I wish we’d eaten in the bistro; the breakfast was divine- by far the best food we found in Portugal! Thank you and all the best
